Four recycling businesses illegally arranged the buying prices for used car batteries between the years 2009 - 2012. In 2017, the EU Commission imposed a total fine of 68 million euros. Recycling businesses from Belgium, Great Britain, France and the USA were involved in the cartel.
Scrap dealers had to pay the excessive purchase prices. These companies are now entitled to compensation.
Those involved in the cartel include: Campine from Belgium, Eco-Bat Technologies from Great Britain, Recylex from France as well as the USA-based company Johnson Controls.
The amount of the damage suffered by a company from a cartel is determined by an expert opinion. For this, it is determined which purchase prices for old batteries would have been likely if the purchase prices had not been illegally fixed by the recycling companies.
Limitation periods can be different according to the cartel and conditions of your particular case. CREDITALE will happily check the limitation period. Please contact us here.
